About Mesa

What It's Actually Like Living in Mesa, AZ

Mesa is the third-largest city in Arizona, and it covers a lot of ground, literally and in terms of housing options. Established neighborhoods near Downtown Mesa date back decades, with larger lots and mature landscaping that's harder to find in newer Valley suburbs. Further east, the city stretches out toward Apache Junction and the Superstition Mountains, with newer subdivisions and more open space.

Downtown Mesa has seen real investment over the past several years, with a light rail extension, new restaurants, and redevelopment around the historic Main Street corridor. It's a different feel from the rest of the city, more walkable and increasingly popular with buyers who want an urban option without Phoenix or Tempe prices.

Moving to Mesa Arizona often appeals to buyers who want more square footage or lot size for their budget than they'd get in Tempe, Scottsdale, or Gilbert, without giving up freeway access or proximity to the rest of the Valley.
